    we had similar things at Popham 20 years ago albeit open but we do have an enclosed "thingy" at the airfield 7 kms down the road which looks awfully similar to this thein.

    Call be old fashioned but i dont fancy trusting my life to a "Jesus bolt"  and besides these things are not cheap at 50 odd thousand dollars for the same sum of money you can buy yourself a very well equipped piper aztec, or if you wanted two seats a cessna 150 or piper tomahawk and have enough cash left over to oeperate the plane for a good long period. i know what i would buy

    I took this photograph at the Aviation Museum on Malta so nothing new with this type of flying machine....................

    Thanks for the link, James. My problem with auto-gyros is that they look like a helicopter but fly like a fixed wing aircraft. No lift from the rotors other than that generated by speed - via translational lift. Also, you need a length of fairly flat surface to get back down on.
