    Editing CVX Coastlines

Post by mltpilot on Tue Apr 18, 2017 11:32 am

    Hi All,

I am currently working on a Muscat International Scenery, and need to update the coastline near the airport as the runway would end up on the water. I have followed some tutorials, designed new CVX_HYDRO.bgl, but when activating it after putting it in the scenery file, it doesn't seem to show. It is part of a bigger cvx6323.

How can I merge the small part of the CVX_HYDRO into the cvx6323? The closest that I came to was seeing the edited coast when putting the HYDRO in the scenery folder, but leaving the cvx6323 out of the main scenery folder.
    Would appreciate some help!

    Thanks

I checked out FSX default scenery and it seems OK. What scenery are you referring to? I opened up my FSET and Google satellite images look OK for this airport and surrounding area so why not make your own photo real scenery with the software I sent you last night?

    Kindest Regards, M

    Hi,

Yes, I am using FSET. The problem is that the default coastline of FSX is not updated, hence, the new runway ends up in the water. Therefore, I need to edit the CVX, so that I re edit the FSX Coastline, so that I create new land, as the photoreal shows.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the quick reply. Just to make it clear, I have not yet added the photoreal here, I am using the defaults, but I just want to edit fsx default coastline, so that my photoreal coast, will match the fsx coast. Thanks

You dont have to do that as the FSET photo real scenery sits on top of FSX default and covers it up. Thats the way I do it. Cheers M

Just did this to show you the FSET scenery made with GE, the satellite images are very poor in both GE and Bing. I made the water mask too although not well as I didnt spend time following the coastline. I did all of this in under 30 minutes. So looking forward to seeing some better quality pictures of your scenery soon. M
