That's good - what if you don't have a telly or haven't got reception? We get letters from the licencing authority demanding we pay up or go to jail! Our wonderful local topology means we can't receive terrestrial TV - so, no had a TV for decades.

And now the bl**dy govt has made it illegal to watch 'catch-up' TV without a licence, so we wait 6 months and buy the box set...

    Ciao - Dai. Cool

I recall our local Milton (near Tenby) post mistress telling me a tale of an old dear renewing her black and white TV licence. In conversation she explained how generous her family had been buying her a video recorder. O said the post mistress let me check with head office. Yes you may of guessed it, she had to pay for a colour licence because the video recorder records and plays in colour although the old dear could only watch it in black and white.

As a side to this back then if you where registered blind they offered a £1 discount off your TV licence.

Aren't the British Government a generous lot.

    Cheers Mike.

we were taken to court for no license many years ago and after several court appearances my wife won, here in France it is automatically put on your house tax but if you have no telly you simply inform the tax office and it is removed, they dont care about streaming , we have a telly but it is no longer hooked up to the aerials just the livebox television transmissions here in France are set to stop in 2 years after that it will all pass by the internet.
