Winter textures for photo scenery - video tutorial

Post by ddavid on Sat Jul 09, 2016 11:21 am

Here's an interesting video tutorial for making winter (snow) textures for photo scenery:

Mark, the author, has recently joined SimHaven as "soarfly" - so, Welcome and Thanks, Mark!

I had thought I'd posted this video a week ago but the c-nile thing got in the way...

Tried Mark's approach - but used Gimp, so slightly different.

Result - well, getting there, I guess...

The black sand reminds me of the Canary Islands. Now that's an idea...

    More tea!

Guys, when you create the snow textures by inverting (as seen in your video) what next, do you export or save the IMAGE file ...whats the next step? this is new to me..sorry if this seems like a basic question

Darryl, it's a while ago but I remember editing (with Gimp) the Area_Lp1_SnapLOD13_N056312877_N056304922_W005555742_W005531922_new90_winter.bmp so that less black beach and more snow was visible, as here:

Then you proceed in the normal way with the AreaMaskInfo and resampleFSXSP2.

    Hope that helps.
