    Hi Dai,

How did you go about making your water effects? I'm only guessing that you used the "Create Masks" YES button and "Complete Scenery" switched OFF in FSET and then edited the mask bmp picture painting black into the water areas leaving the land masses pink then compiled the "Area FSX Mask Info" folder to get the correct bgl file?

    Thanks in advance, cheers, Mike.

I have done wales to Lancaster so far in google earth but would be awesome if people share their KML files so we can combine them all together water ways lakes etc.

at what definition have you done your scenery? did you use fset ?
I have done most of wales at -2 in fset but the problem with all these files are that they are so huge, most companies will onlyy transfer 2 gb's before you are on the meter and 2 gb's is not even a small town in high def

Yes fset. Wow -2 that would be some insane file sizes. i have opted for 1 for general and 0 for airfields. I tried different resolutions and found that 1 is fine for 500ft AGL. the minus figs are higher zoom but not increase resolution thats why they look a little fuzzy when fully zoomed in. When you say you have done most of wales is that with a KML file for masking or just downloaded?

i have scanned my region here in France at -4 and yes the file sizes are huge but the definition is crystal clear, the photos on this link were at -2 so no blurries there at all.

    http://simhaven.englishboards.com/t238-the-reality-of-photoscenery

I have scanned most of Florida and the northern bahamas at 0 because the imagery isnt great I am lead to believe that northern uk and especially scotland are not terribly good quality, i have scanned an area around Manchester and liverpool , newcastle, leeds braford doncaster , so that I get better quality scenery when flying low but I do not want all of the UK in HD only the places I fly into , i mostly fly further south as the scenery is more interesting

However to give you some ideas of file sizes,

North wales alone is 21gb's , mikes UK comes to over 600gb's i believe !

and my region here comes to 15gb/s and is smaller than London

My current storage is over 9tb's Smile

Are you using fsx or P3d? i'm having texture LOD issues in p3d.

i have all 3 , gold SE, and p3D but i do not like how p3d presents photoscenery i prefer fsx se , photoscenery is sharper and the colours are better, but p3d from 3.3 certainly has the legs on fsxse however being an old dog i prefer the interface of fsxse and all things considered fsxse now does what it says on the box especially if you use dx10. but there are certain aspects of P3D which are nice additions like cloud shadows, and cloud construction especially if you use REX soft clouds

Yes P3d have reduced their LOD and will not allow it to be altered above 6.5 :-( still having a texture loading issue, sometime having to circle around to allow thing to catch up even at 150 kts! whats your experience of loading times? i have P3D loaded on c: and scenery on d: both SSDs cannot figure it out! must be CPU bottleneck . But if ou have ant miracle settings to post? ;-)

I am sure I have run P3D at 8.5 before now, i will check later, because i am still reinstalling it having put it on a larger hard drive will confirm later, but there is no doubt that the portrayal of P3D is not as good. If you are correct about the 6.5 it must be one of the ways they have increased fps performasnce
