EASY WAY TO DO THE COASTLINE IN FSET

Post by G-GMDH on Sun Mar 06, 2016 5:00 pm

Downloaded bmp image from FSET to be edited in Irfanview FREE art software.......................

After editing with the "fill bucket" using a cloned copy of the "default" FSX water colour..........................

This is the "Cloned" default water colour

    Close up of the coastline...............................

When flying in FSX you must have the "Water Effects" switched OFF.

This is VERY fast and easy to do and produces some very good visual effects.

This is one of the ways I have been doing scenery in Photoshop. But doesn't the "squares" stay and the paint pot only colours the white section? AND in 1 in 10 frames, the blue sea can bleed onto the land. When this happens, I draw around the coast but this can take some time if you want to include all the piers and other structures Interesting "blue". What is the blue's colour code?

    Hi Stephen,

Well from experience the FREE art package I use does not "bleed" into the land. In fact its very clever as it fills in around object like piers, rock formations, beaches etc. Its so fast to do and I have completed all the way from the Severn Bridge across South Wales, West Wales, North Wales, North England and now up as far as Scotland in under a week!!!!!

    Cheers, Mike.

    PS

This afternoon I flew from Filton near Bristol over to the Severn Bridge then along the Welsh coast to RAF Dale near Milford Haven. This picture shows the "water fill" all done with one click of the mouse button using my art package, its so easy.

i may be wrong but I thought there was a "standard " colour for the sea and if used the sea worked as normal with fsx

I understand that FSX uses several different sea colours.

This site explains in detail about how FSX water works.

They also offer a free software called "FS Water Configurator" so you can play around changing the water effects.
