JOURNEY INTO THE UNKNOWN FSX SCENERY

Post by G-GMDH on Sat Jan 30, 2016 1:47 pm

My journey into the unknown parts of FSX have unveiled some interesting finds. As an example I'm looking at scenery area 0501 which covers most of the UK.

Hidden within this scenery folder are all sorts of bgl files but these are the ones that I was able to view........................

    CVX Files..............

This is zoomed into North Wales as an example.......

When you look at the CVX file picture the areas in blue show up through the home made scenery as cartoon FSX scenery.

So some how these files need to be edited to remove these blue areas so that our FSET home made photo real scenery looks good without the FSX cartoon stuff.

    and the dem0501 bgl file

    Any thoughts...........................................?

    M

are those not the road maps from the site I sent to you by email this morning? and if so why did microsoft then put the roads in the wrong places?

If I were you I would not sit in front of a lit window at night without the curtain being drawn, you now are starting to know too much, if you get my drift
it will not have gone unnoticed

When you study the white map area of the zoomed in North Wales FSX has added dark blue areas, why? Maybe to get around some copy right laws? If the dark blue areas could be removed the map then has some sort of authenticity.

PS Nigel, my shutters are kept closed at night!!!!!

are those not sand banks? or mud banks? mind you looking at the GE images they look really weird perhap this was an early way of exempting some areas?s

No they are not sand or mud banks they are added FSX cartoon scenery areas that have no bearing on the geography of that part of North Wales. If you could delete all those dark blue areas it would then look closer to the real thing.

    Below are pictures to explain

The yellow line defines the actual coast line.

To hide the FSX cock up I had to spray colour to hide the sandy cartoon scenery outlined in red.

You can delete them I believe, but think you should use some time at fsdeveloper. I´m sure you´ll find more answers there.

Hi DB, I have never found FS Developer web site of any use and had to work things out on my own. M

I think I know what you mean and often I find myself in the same situation on various forums.
Sometimes I wonder if its the other members or if its me?¿ Rolling Eyes
