Home Made Scenery and FSX Scenery Settings

Post by G-GMDH on Sun Jan 24, 2016 11:51 am

The following is based on many hours burning the midnight oil and testing home made scenery in FSX. Here are my findings.

This set up assumes the downloaded scenery using FSET was set at minus one resolution. For the default download resolution of plus one the Texture Resolution slider can be set at one metre as setting it at any other will make no difference to the satellite images.

The Mesh sliders do not seem to make any difference to the scenery by sliding them to maximum.

These pictures at 500 feet over Haverfordwest EGFE town, castle and airfield were downloaded in minus one whilst the rest of the area is default plus one resolution.

For those interested in figures this is what I discovered

FSET Download Satellite Resolution default 1 M equals setting FSX Texture Resolution slider to 1 M

FSET Download Satellite Resolution 0..............................................................................60 CM

    FSET ........................................Minus 1......................................................................30 CM

    FSET.........................................Minus 2......................................................................15 CM

    FSET.........................................Minus 3.......................................................................7 CM
