SOME RE TESTING IN FSET PART 4

Post by G-GMDH on Mon Oct 26, 2015 8:29 pm

I re tested at 90% and 80% compression this time in the USA near KPBI using satellite images courtesy of Google Earth at the default 1M/PIX resolution within FSET.

I have studied both photographs on my computer screen and see no major differences in the quality however the storage sizes speak for themselves.

This test area is ONLY one bgl file in FSX................

Default 100 % compression = 332 Mbs of storage required.

Using 90 % compression = 145 Mbs of storage required.

Using 80 % compression = 75.1 Mbs of storage required.
(The same area using Virtual Earth satellite images = 80.1 Mbs of storage required.)

    AREA AT 90 %

    AREA AT 80 %

The 80 % is a little brighter in colour. Can you see any differences?

Again its down to personal choice but certainly from a hard drive storage saving of space the 80 % compression is the way to go for me.

    Cheers, M
